PART
FOUR- THE DIVAS OF THE RINGS
“Men are afraid of me” Victoria
Moreno
“I don't have a boyfriend nor would I
want one. This is probably why men are not attracted to me because I bring out their superficialness” Zee
Zee: “My opinion about female wrestlers who
wrestle men for money? One step from prostitution. They degrade the sport by
claiming they are real wrestlers but they are not real. Most of them don't
train nor do they know how to wrestle… Because of my build and looks, I
think people stay away from me. It's great because people leave me
alone.”
IS WRESTLING DANGEROUS?
What wrestling means to a professional woman
wrestler?
Photo: “Iron Woman” Victoria
Moreno. One of the strongest and most skilled professional wrestler in the
world. She fights men and knocked them like chicken. “Men are afraid if me “
she said.
In
an
interview, professional wrestler “Lady Victoria” explained:
“Professional wrestling is "sports entertainment". We put our
health on the line every time we step into the ring. Bruises and jammed joints
are common. Must be athletic. Willing to listen and learn. No room for a big
ego. There is no difference between male and female professional wrestling. I
was trained with men. I wrestle like the men. I am not frail and would prefer
to wrestle men. I have had many good matches with men. Not many ladies want to
wrestle me. Men are afraid of me. Professional wrestling
is only fatal if a lady is not trained properly…I wrestle them for
money. Have been doing this for 7 years. Grappling is also my sport of choice.
I don’t wrestle for fun, This is how I make my living. I would go to jail if
I were to fight on the street. I am a pro wrestler and could hurt anyone if I
fight. I do not party or go to bars just because of this problem. I am very
domestic. I have my husband, my home, my 3 dogs, 2 kids. I go to bed at 10:00.
Don't do drugs, don't drink alcohol.
Sometime, I have to put all I have into it, but remember a
good wrestler is not so much strong, but skilled. These x-bodybuilders you find
out there are strong and have nice bodies, but can't give you a good match. Hell
most of them just pin you right off and you lay under them for an hour. I am
both strong, beautiful and skilled. It doesn't take strength to beat a guy 100
lbs more than me. It is all in the technique. The difference with me is that I
know what I am doing and the guys can be assured, even in the most competitive
match that they won't get hurt. I have heard so many horror stories about girls
that just end up dislocating an arm or breaking a nose. This never happens with
me. At least not yet... And no matter how competitive the match, it is still all
for fun. We laugh, I tell jokes. Some guys just like to sit for a few minutes
and catch up on all my latest news and enjoy the company.”
WOMEN
AGAINST MEN______________________________________________________
Popular
shows of physical contest between women and men (mixed boxing, mixed wrestling)
became big business. The idea of many of such contests (usually clumsy made) is
to show power, combative abilities and superiority of women over men,
ludicrousness and worthlessness of their opponents. The most of such
“brawls” are held in home interior where women demonstrate “technique”
using a clog as a device: she holds his head by legs, throws him up on her
shoulders and throws him down to the ground – there are many types of such
moves. Sometimes mixed contests represent wrestling and boxing but again, women
always defeat men. At first glance, such a show should be popular among women
because it would establish their self confidence and support feminism ideas.
But
there are no women at all who are buyers of such videocassettes and mixed fight
watchers – almost all pseudo fights are organized for men’s amusement
including mixed fights. There is a store in New York “Sports video” which is divided into three almost
equal sections: regular sports, female combat and porno (with female wrestlers
too), at that the last one is separated by a fence with a gate with the sign:
“adult only”. In fact, you would be unable to see women in the two last
sections (but could see many men) and more than 50% cassettes are with mixed
combat. Perhaps, some deep complexes of some men are satisfied by watching of
the shame of other men who get defeated and beaten by beautiful women (maybe
some sadomasochistic motivation take place here).
At the
same time, quite high technique level characterizes mixed boxing and wrestling
shows organized by the DWW club which has quite well-trained female wrestlers
and boxers It’s not easy to classified these contests as totally real or
totally imitative..

Grappling with women for entertainment
Zee: “Almost everything
is sexual with men, they even admit it as if it is a badge of honor. Or I should
say men can make anything in their mind sexual.”
Photo: Zee (Zvyonzek) Vjesalicu
(nickname is "The Pitbull"). Canadian combatant. Originally from
Poltava, Ukraine (USSR). Left USSR in 1985. One of the best female extreme
fighter, submission wrestler and Jiu-Jitsu player in the world. She is the
real thing. No non-sense fighter. Zee
is a philosopher, a deep thinker, a lecturer and professional instructor of
Asian martial arts. Her record:
IFC (International
Fighting Championships) - 2 times champion;
- Chicago Challenge - 2 times champion;
- World Extreme Fighting champion;
- Extreme Shoot Out champion;
- Canadian Open Jiu-Jitsu champion;
In an interview, Zee explained:
"Whatever someone thinks about
this but it’s the fact that female physical combat attracts and excites men.
But direct wrestling with a woman excites men even more. The other possible
motivation is masochism. In the everyday life it’s unlikely that a regular
woman would want or be able to wrestle with a man for his pleasure. That’s why
a lot of agencies for men are created all over the world, which provide paid
services of wrestlers. Hourly rates are established up for wrestling. One of the
interviewed in our club combatants, Lady Victoria, insists that the most such
female wrestlers are strong ladies who don’t have enough technical skills in
wrestling - at the beginning of a “match” they just throw clients down and
lie on top of them the rest of the scheduled time watching clocks. Lady
Victoria, however said that honestly worked out her hours wrestling with her
clients in her full strength. The powerful combatant Zee “Pitbull” thinks
that such services are slightly distinguished from prostitution.
I used to fight men but the more I would win the more
female opponents was cut down because the women thought that if I was beating
the men, then they would not want to fight for fear of losing. Or just that they
would never fight a man to begin with. So, they saw me as beating men... as
something special. I train only with men as there are no women close to train
with for me. I don't care who or what I train with as long as they realize it is
training. If I want to actually fight then I set up ring time for that. But, in
training I want to be pushed but only as far as I see I will get something out
of it. Тraining is not the time to be foolish nor try to injure your
partner. Training is to test your skills and determination, not injure someone.
At this time, I don't think women and men would be equal. I don't think society
is ready for women being able to actually beat men in combat sports. I know
there are guys I have beaten but this does not mean that I can beat every guy
out there. I am also trying to help promote the women side of the sport. By
fighting men I think it would only drive women out of the sport. I want to
encourage... not discourage! I don't care about my looks in general. I tell
everyone who shows interest in combat activities that if you are into the way
you look, don't bother because you will get hit or cut. All I care about when I
am fighting is showing my combative SKILLS. Looks have nothing to do with
fighting as it is not a beauty contest.
I
don't
have a boyfriend nor would I want one. Sorry but my training
is more important to me than anyone at this time. I don't even talk about
physical superiority over anyone, even men. I am myself but I don't challenge
guys because I think challenging should be done in the ring, not to people who
know nothing about the sport. Challenging untrained guys is like being a bully,
which I am not. My close friends like what I do and respect it. I think people
are too caught up on how people look. What I do, I like. The kind of person I am
and if I have a good heart should be much more important than the way I look.
I
prefer to be on equal footing with people, male or
female... not superior nor inferior. Just equal. I know that there will be
things in life that I will be better at, as they will have things that they are
better at. If I were to ever have a guy who was weaker or stronger physically...
so what?? This is probably why men are not attracted to me because I bring
out their superficialness. In the who span of life strength or physical
prowess means nothing as there is so much more to life than this. Attractiveness
is not my concern. If people like me, fine. If they don't, well that
is their problem. I was not put on this earth for men or women. I was put here
to make a difference in the things I do. Actions speak louder than words.
Build has nothing to do with
skills. Men make this mistake all the time. I once had this fight with someone
who was built along the lines of a bodybuilder and they "looked" like
they could kick anyone's butt, including mine. Well when It came to fighting
skills, there were none. I don't compare myself to women, I compare myself to my
performances in past competitions. I am only concerned with that I do, not
others. Thinking about what other people do only takes my mind off my goals. I
know that there is this social thing where women size each other up in regards
to looking for a mate/male etc... well I don't live in that world. So, hence
there is no reason to compare or compete with them. In the fighting arena it is
about who wins with skills, not looks. So in regards to ones build, looks can be
confusing. I may not have a bodybuilders physique but my body works fine for
what I want it to do. I have a functional muscular build. think men get off
watching anything a woman does. I am a fighter not a T&A model... So I would
like to think that if someone is watching ME fight they are looking at my skills
and being impressed by that. Almost everything is sexual with men, they even
admit it as if it is a badge of honor. Or I should say men can make anything in
their mind sexual…
Wrestling is only a show? It's bullshit. What I do is
real, not staged. I got the scars to prove it. I don't care how much money I was
offered I would never sell out to do some skunk sexual show for entertainment
for anyone. These types of entertainment should not be mentioned in the same
breath of what I do. It is insulting.
My opinion about female wrestlers
who wrestle men for money? One step from prostitution.
They degrade the sport by claiming they are real wrestlers but they are not
real. Most of them don't train nor do they know how to wrestle… No, never
fought a woman in a street fight. Because of my build and looks, I think
people stay away from me.
It's great because people leave me alone.”

Why Women's Wrestling Should Be An Olympic Sport?
Photo: Debra, the Queen of Elegance of
American Women’s Professional Wrestling. A former Miss Texas and Illinois.
The sport of women's freestyle wrestling has the
interest and involvement of nations in all continents, and has proven itself to
be worthy of inclusion in the Olympic Games. We have provided 12 compelling
reasons why the IOC should include women's wrestling at this time.
I. Including women's wrestling is not adding a new sport. It is adding the
women's discipline to an existing popular Olympic sport.
Including women's freestyle wrestling in the Athens Games is consistent with the
IOC policy to offer women the same competition opportunities as men. Wrestling,
one of the original Olympic sports in both the ancient and modern Games, is
currently provided for men at the Olympic Games, but not yet for women.
II. There have been Senior Women's World Wrestling Championships for 15
years.
FILA, the international wrestling federation, has hosted Women's World Wrestling
competitions since 1987, and has hosted 13 Senior World Championships, five
Junior World Championships and three Cadet World Championships. The World
Championships event has grown in size and prestige each year, and the quality of
the competition continues to improve and excel.
III. Up to 80 nations officially sanction women's wrestling for international
competition.
Every year, more nations have created women's wrestling programs and provided
opportunities for women to learn about the sport. The number of teams involved
in major international events are expected to increase even more when the sport
receives official Olympic
status.
IV. Women's wrestling is contested in the regular Continental Wrestling
Championships.
In the major continental wrestling competitions, women's wrestling is included
in the program, including the European Championships, the Pan American
Championships, the Asian Championships, the African Championships and the
Oceanic Championships.
V. FILA has created a Women's World Cup competition
The Women's World Cup is a new team championship event added to the FILA
calendar, featuring the best international women's wrestling teams.
VI. There are 37 major women's wrestling events on the 2001 FILA
international event calendar
Major international wrestling tournaments for women are held across the world,
and have been added to the official international wrestling schedule. These
tournaments showcase the world's best international women wrestlers, and assist
them in preparation for the World Championships.
VII. The international wrestling community unanimously supports women's
wrestling in the Olympics
At the FILA Congress held in Tehran, Iran, the 91 nations in attendance voted
unanimously to ask the FILA Bureau for immediate action to make women's
wrestling a part of the Olympic Games.
VIII. Women wrestlers have become popular athletic stars in their home
nations
The outstanding champions from the Women's World Wrestling Championships have
become heroes in their home nations. These popular stars include Kyoko Hamaguchi
of Japan, Tricia Saunders of the United States, Anna Gomis of France, Christine
Nordhagen of Canada, Gudrun Hoie of Norway, Zhong Xiue of China, Nikola Hartmann
of Austria, Sara Eriksson of Sweden, and many others. These athletes are great
representatives of the sport of wrestling, and are perfect examples of the
Olympic ideal.
IX. Wrestling is a founding sport of the Olympic movement, and is practiced
worldwide, including in economically poor nations.
Wrestling was one of the sports included in the ancient Olympic Games, and was
on the program of the first modern Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 1896.
Wrestling is practiced in nations of all economic situations, as it is not
expensive to organize and conduct. In addition, many nations have their own
traditional styles of wrestling which have been practiced for centuries.
Wrestling, because of its many improvements over the years, remains a very
popular sport across the world.
X. Athens is a perfect place to add women's wrestling to the Olympic program,
as wrestling has a long tradition in
Greece.
Wrestling is a sport that has a strong tradition in the host nation of Greece,
and was included in the ancient Greek Olympics, and well as the first modern
Games held in Athens. It makes sense for wrestling for women to be added to the
Olympic program in Greece, which values wrestling as an important part of its
culture.
XI. Women's wrestling is very exciting to watch, and makes outstanding
television viewing
Women's wrestling is an exciting sport, which features outstanding athletes
testing themselves in a fair and challenging competition. The athletes are in
tremendous physical shape, and test themselves with speed, strength and
technical skills. Sports fans find women's wrestling to be very interesting. A
number of major women's wrestling events have been televised in the past, and is
an excellent option for television viewing of the Olympic Games.
XII. The values that wrestling provides for men are also available
to all women
Wrestling is a safe, fun and challenging activity for everybody, regardless of
height, weight or physical attributes. Consider these benefits offered by
wrestling, which are now available to all women:
Self esteem and confidence
Health and fitness
Fun and challenge
Discipline and dedication
Team and individual competition
Life skills and personal lessons

I
hope
that you have enjoyed our journey to the world of women’s professional
wrestling. You met them all. All the stars and all the divas. The flashy-dashy,
the exhibitionists, the sweet models, the nurses, the stunt women, the truck
drivers, the bones crashers, the thinkers, the elegant and classy, the actresses
and the CEO, the tough cookies and the beauty queens…They are the fabric of
that world. A world we don’t understand but we enjoy to glimpse at and watch
those divas punching and kicking each other. Whether it is real of fake, we
still pay $50 for a wrestling match ticket, because they are there. So,
something must be real, something attracts us to them. What is it? Fantasies?
Escapades? Self-illusion? Delusion perhaps? Entertainment? The smell of blood?
The contours of their bodies? The follies? The screaming of the crowd? The human
circus? Sex? Voyeurism? Acrobatics? Sport? Showmanship? The hysteria of the
spectators? Idol Cult? Action?
